AECOM is seeking a database technician to join our team in Virginia. The successful candidate will design, develop and implement database applications to accommodate a variety of user needs including supporting the Naval Education and Training at Virginia Beach in converting training course content for Block Learning using Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM) Content Planning and Learning Object Modules (CPM/LOM) software.
Must have the capability to structure course content in both a database and XML display that facilitates content through a browser-based template.
Support data entry in Content Planning and Learning Object Modules (CPM/LOM).
Support other data entry as required.
Integrate databases, spreadsheets, and other tools together.
Analyze and determine informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements and data output and reporting capabilities.
Define logical attributes and inter-relationships and assist with designing routine data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance and accessibility.
Test design applications utilizing database management software or general programming software.
Install, implement and support of standard systems within the user base.
Set up and test different design scenarios early in the system development life cycle as part of the process of validating the suitability of proposed design alternatives.
May perform database modeling, simulation and analysis.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a BS degree in a quantitative discipline (i.e., Mathematics, or Engineering)
Three (3) years continuous experience with increasing responsibilities in information systems or network design and implementation in broad-based information technology settings using contemporary information systems tools and methodologies. Three (3) years’ experience in database maintenance and development (MS Access, as a minimum), with Cold Fusion and XML expertise.
Good written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Position may require travel.
Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Former U.S. Navy Training Experience.
Familiarity with the Navy Education and Training Center’s End-to-End Training Development Process.
