The highways business in the North East represents over 40 years of accumulated skills, experience and established culture in the delivery of all types of highway schemes; from major motorway improvements such as the A1 Dishforth to Barton Improvement scheme to major highways such as Morpeth Northern Bypass, New Tyne Crossing, Smart Motorway Projects and challenging junction improvements on the strategic highway network. Our modern offices on Newcastle Quayside have good transport links and the teams have an established reputation for quality and delivery. We are looking to enhance and enlarge these teams with people who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination.
Currently engaged on a number of interesting and challenging projects both locally and nationally there are a number of opportunities for the candidates to be involved in the range of work secured and anticipated. Recent and current projects in the UK include HS2, SMP J21a-J26, A1 Doncaster to Darrington and M1/M62 Lofthouse and A1 J47. Our services offered to our clients include the full range and scope of highways work from inception to completion across all the key discipline areas.
We have considerable experience of working with contractors on Design and Build schemes such as the A1 Leeming to Barton, M11 Junction 7A, SMP and the Morpeth Northern Bypass as well as working directly for clients, who come from the private and public sector.
Minimum Requirements
Job Responsibilities include technical input, leadership and some project management in the multi-disciplinary field of highway engineering. You will undertake a variety of tasks providing as an individual or through team effort, a range of design and written deliverables. With experience of preparing and attending meetings with clients or statutory consultees. Show technical leadership and through experience, mentor and guide the skills of others in Software, e.g. Autodesk and Bentley, and the Microsoft Office. Take a lead role on projects within skill area – e.g. Project Management or Asset Management, Alignment Design or Drainage, Safety Barrier or Pavement Design.
Preferred Qualifications
You will be a degree qualified motivated civil engineer with excellent communication skills, working towards Professional Qualifications such as Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer through a recognized Institution (ICE and or CIHT). With full awareness of Current Health and Safety Legislation and how it is applied to the design process.
