AECOM Senior Engineering Geologist in Newcastle, Australia

As a result of our significant project pipeline, and with an increase in our long-term major projects across Australia and New Zealand, AECOM’s Civil Infrastructure group in the Hunter has an opportunity for a Senior Engineering Geologist with Dams experience to join our team.
You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a strong team of Civil Engineers and Engineering Geologists, of all levels. There is also the opportunity to be involved with projects from the earliest stages of planning, ground investigation, design, all the way through to construction and operational management phases.
Your experience will enable you to immediately contribute to the team. However, ongoing personal development is a major driver of the AECOM business. As part of the broader Australian Dams Team, this role will be primarily technical, supporting growth and ability to resource strategic opportunities in our NSW and Australian Dams team.
You will be responsible for:
Performing inspections and tests to ensure compliance.
Logging and characterising the engineering properties of foundation and embankment materials.
Overseeing laboratory testing programs
Data collation, geological characterisation, analysis and reporting
Assisting in the prepare project documentation including reports, project communications, and design drawings and report figures that are of a high professional standard.
Generally supporting project teams in achieving stated goals within the Dams team but also to the various business lines within the Newcastle office and the Asia-Pacific region,
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Participate in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation.
Problem solving by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.
As a Senior Engineering Geologist, you will be engaged, and excited by project delivery and the successful integration of varied specialist and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
Ideally, you will have:
Good planning and organisational skills
Ability to conduct field work in a productive and safe manner
Knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques and procedures
Analytical experience including stability analysis
General design skills including construction materials selection and specification, slope stabilisation works, foundation design for small structures.
Good report writing skills including Design Memos for specific task outcomes, factual investigation reports, geotechnical interpretive reports, design reports
Analytical skills and knowledge of geological and geotechnical software (i.e. RocScience, Geo-Slope, gINT, etc.)
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
This role typically suits someone with 5 + years relevant experience
