Position Title Entry Level Staff Geologist

The Environmental Program Management Organization (PMO) Division of AECOM is seeking a talented Entry Level Geologist for immediate employment in the Newark, DE office. The selected candidate will perform field and office duties for a large client on projects involving the investigation and remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. Ratio of office to field work may vary from 50/50 to as much as 80% field work, 20% office. 50 to 75% of the year may be associated with travel and working at project sites outside of the local area: travel may include deployments up to 2 to 3 weeks.

The selected candidate will support project teams in all aspects of soil and groundwater investigations including:
Supervision of well drilling crews, well logging, and field documentation
Groundwater and soil sampling
Using field instruments for data collection
Performing specific and limited portions of routine assignments (Ex – tabularizing data, data checking, transferring field notes/logs into an electronic format) .
Gathering data and other information to be used in the preparation of scientific reports.
Applying standard practices and techniques in specific situations.
Preparing basic data and scientific documents.
Reviewing analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines
The selected candidate may also assist in environmental construction related projects potentially performing the following:
Overseeing construction contractors
Performing verification of engineering design compliance
Reporting and documenting daily construction activities
AECOM offers a challenging and diverse work environment. Focus of environmental and engineering research associated with the Newark office includes characterization of environments impacted by established as well as emerging contaminants, and application of standard as well as new and innovative technologies to restore impacted sites.
Bachelor's degree in geology or geology related field
General knowledge of various geological principles
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and within a project team environment.
Ability to work in outdoors field environments under various weather conditions (summer heat, winter cold, snow, rain, etc)
Ability to load/unload/carry equipment/supplies that may weigh up to 50 pounds
Ability to pass the company required drug screening test and background check
Possess a current US driver’s license
Willingness to travel with deployments up to 2 to 3 weeks
Course in hydrology/hydrogeology
