Job Description

AECOM’s NY Metro Transit/Rail Planning team is looking for a Passionate Passenger Rail Planner with strong project management skills to support and expand our assignments with established intercity, regional, and commuter rail clients. The overall responsibilities include project and client management, new business development, and providing technical direction for the growing NY Metro Transit Rail Planning team.

The Senior Passenger Rail Planner will report to the Vice President, NY Metro Transit Rail Planning. Experience with railroad engineering, capital programming, and the federal project development process is encouraged to support our portfolio of large infrastructure projects. Candidate will have a leadership role in business development including industry and client outreach and preparing responses to agency Requests for Proposals (RFPs). The Senior Rail Planner will work with AECOM’s global transit/rail planning and engineering resources and our digital AECOM toolkit.

This position’s responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Technical guidance for transit rail planning assignments within NY Metro

  • Project management, project controls, scope/schedule/budget adherence for project assignments

  • Mentoring and building transit rail planning staff

  • Coordinating with NY Metro’s multidisciplinary/multimodal planning and engineering practices

  • Client-specific business development strategies

  • Managing AECOM and its subconsultants interdisciplinary resources

  • New business development activities including industry events and responses to client RFPs

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Transportation Planning, Business, or other related field is desirable.

  • Professional planning or engineering license in NY, NJ, and/or CT

  • 15+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, good time management skills, and an attention to detail.

Additional Information

Offered rate of compensation (NYC locations only) will be based on individual education,

qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this

position is $133,000 to $246,000.
