Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer for immediate employment in the New York, NY office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and directs the completion of assigned discipline projects

  • Accountable for assuring that a project plan is developed for each project and thoroughly communicated, understood and utilized by the project lead team

  • Serves as senior electrical engineer/technical lead on assigned projects; applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to all projects assigned

  • Willing and able to interpret and implement client standards into code complainant designs

  • Willing and able to survey and evaluate existing conditions in order to formulate a fully coordinated scope of work within code compliant mechanical designs

  • Exercises judgment in developing details of work and in making preliminary selections & adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepares engineering related calculations and develops drawings and visual aids

  • Serves as a quality control & quality assurance reviewer

  • Stays current on codes and technologies, specific client standards

  • Ensures discipline plans created meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule

  • Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction

  • Works cooperatively with other managers and employees to achieve company's mission, and clients’ needs

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of consulting engineering experience, including at least 2 years of project management experience

  • Relevant experience in electrical and fire alarm design and the preparation of design and construction documents for projects including healthcare, laboratories, higher education and mission critical.

  • Registered Professional Engineer in New York or ability to obtain by reciprocity

  • Competent in all conventional aspects of electrical and fire alarm engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria

  • Knowledge of and experience with high performance and sustainable building practices

  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems

  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to serve in the role as a Project Manager responsible for a multi-disciplinary team in the development of comprehensive, coordinated construction documents for diverse and complex projects

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel, potentially 15%-20% of the time

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as Microsoft and AutoCAD)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Revit experience

  • LEED accredited
