Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Project Engineer I/II for immediate employment in the Greater New York City Area. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging project within our Power and Energy sector partnering with major Utility companies in all regions we support.

The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Work with Program Manager/Project Manager to problem solve construction related issues on project sites

  • Performs tasks including client/project development, resource management, and supervision management of construction management activities as they relate to contract administration, cost management, project management, quality management, construction safety management, time management

  • Assist in managing and coordinating preliminary sites or building analysis for construction projects

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or electrical from a school accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology

  • 10+ years of experience for Project Engineer I/ 13+ years of engineering experience including 4+ years in project management for Project Engineer II

  • NY PE License

  • Project Management professional certification

  • Ability to develop complex engineering specs and perform intricate studies. These studies may involve the integration of various Utilities systems of New York State

  • Substantial knowledge of related disciplines, and understanding of the effects on the authority and its customers

  • Aware of the changes and advancements in the industry, and develop industry wide expertise

  • Ability to understand various utilities project budgets, costs, rates structures, and policies

  • Excellent Presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong Problem solving skills focused on the results of data rather than on the data analysis procedures. In some cases, these “problems” may be associated with the Authority’s generation and transmission of electricity safely, at the lowest cost, or in developing expanded capabilities and services for its customers

  • Ability to investigate what is not intuitive and to develop solutions to non-routine problems

  • Demonstrated ability to handle a project from start to finish, with only major decisions being brought to the PM

  • Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power systems apparatuses is required

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and requires support only to confirm expected results
