AECOM’s Buildings + Places (B+P) business seeks to create buildings and places that are artful yet purposeful; that respond to context, whether by fitting in seamlessly or standing in great contrast to what has come before; that integrate into their existing community, systems and infrastructure so that connections work and potential is maximized. The Buildings + Places Global Business Line is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Global Head of Airport Architecture & Engineering to lead growth in the aviation architecture and engineering design practice globally. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing key client relationships in collaboration with AECOM’s specialist Global Aviation group, leading & winning major pursuits and acting the AECOM lead on major projects. The Global Head of Aviation Architecture & Engineering will be instrumental in the successful development, implementation, and delivery of major aviation terminal programs globally.
Based in the United States the Director of Airport Architecture & Engineering will report to the Global Head of Strategy and Growth – Buildings + Places and be a member of the Buildings + Places Global Executive Team. This leader will work collaboratively with AECOM Transportation Business Line to support Aviation clients and growth.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Planning, organizing, and implementing all strategic business development activities for the Airport Architecture & Engineering practice. Contributing to the development of the strategic growth plan;
Working with AECOM’s specialist Global Aviation group to develop key new and existing client relationships;
Conducting business development to secure new projects. This includes identifying and tracking pursuits, leading go/no go decisions for key pursuits, participating in and/or leading proposals and giving presentations to potential clients;
Representing the company in local, regional, and national professional associations and conferences;
Providing thought leadership ideas internally and externally;
Participating in the Buildings + Places Global Executive Team. Leading and coordinating Regional Architecture & Engineering leaders;
Identifying and sharing best practice globally;
Leading and coordinating B+P Airport Architecture & Engineering resources globally.
Establishing and sustaining relationships with key partners and consultants to support growth of the Airport Architecture & Engineering practice;
Act as Project Lead on specific strategic/key projects;
To be considered for this position, candidates must as a minimum possess the following:
At least a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, or related discipline plus 15+ years of experience in aviation projects;
At least 10 years of demonstrated leadership experience in the aviation sector.
Experience in leading growth through sales and business development;
Proven ability to successfully develop deep client relationships and win work;
Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope;
Due to the flexible location for this opening, relocation is not being offered for this role.

Offered rate of compensation (NYC locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $203,000 to $375,000
