The Transportation Planning Department of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Entry Level Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in the New York City office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an academic or working knowledge in Traffic Engineering, specific to traffic analysis using industry software. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including traffic planning, data analysis and traffic analysis.
This position will be a key member of the Transportation Planning Department in the NYC office, responsible for supporting traffic planning/engineering projects in the NYC metro area. Candidate will assist in the continued growth of the transportation planning business. Will support the development of presentations to client or agency representatives from time to time. Will also interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within AECOM. Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Perform analytical tasks including traffic data collection and data manipulation
Perform traffic analysis on roadway networks and perform capacity analysis on roadway networks
Perform traffic analysis on roadway networks using transportation planning/engineering software including simulation
Prepare written reports and presentations of project findings that support moving projects into design
Bachelor’s Degree in civil/transportation engineering or related area of study
Must have working knowledge and understanding of industry related analyses and development criteria/concepts
Must be able to develop documents in MS Office
Position requires effective time-management, written communications skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Successful candidate will be articulate with professional presence, with solid decision-making, planning and organizational skills
Master in Transportation/traffic Engineering
Able to develop documents in AutoCAD
Working knowledge of MS Access database and/or GIS
Experience in applying criteria and design guidelines/standards (HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, ITE) for infrastructure based studies/projects to identify and evaluate alternatives
