The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated Concrete Quality Assurance Engineer which may be located in our Clifton, New Jersey, or 125 Broad Street, New York, office. Professional services to be performed at NYCDEP facilities located within the five boroughs of New York and in the Upstate Watershed region

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide technical, research and other related services in regard to concrete quality assurance inspection and testing, including specification review, design mix evaluation, development of new design mixes, evaluation of non-conformance report dispositions, perform strength analyses, review standards, conduct material evaluations/ studies, evaluate inspector and laboratory performance
Evaluate and make recommendations of concrete and concrete related-material design mixes for approval
Evaluate mixes with previous field performance in accordance with ACI 318, the NYC Building Code, Contract Specifications and applicable codes
Participate in the development of new design mixes. Concrete-related materials include asphalt, grout, mortar, cement and other concrete related materials
Witness and make findings/ recommendations on the use of trial batches at a New York City Department of Buildings licensed test facility for concrete-related material design mixes.
Supervise the inspection of specimen materials at the batch plant and/or project site to ensure that the inspections are performed properly
Supervise the strength testing of specimens by and at New York City Department of Buildings DOB licensed test facilities to ensure that the tests are performed properly.
Interpret construction contract specifications and drawings
Verify test equipment has been calibrated periodically as per industry standards/ practices
Conduct a final review of Certified Laboratory Test Results specimen set, and determine compliance per New York City guidelines and applicable codes
Make recommendation regarding non-conforming concrete inspection and/or test results
Conduct batch plant inspection services per New York City Building Code regulations
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field or related engineering discipline
10+ years of concrete experience, including fundamentals of concrete, ready mixed concrete, cement fly ash, slag and silica fume, aggregates, chemical admixtures, statistical methods for data evaluation, testing hardened concrete, concreting in extreme weather, extended delivery and returned concrete, quality control procedures, and production, delivery, handling, placing and finishing
NRMCA Level 3 and ACI CCSI or a New York State Professional Engineering license
Experience in the full range of activities associated with providing concrete quality assurance and special inspection services at various NYCDEP Clean Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment facilities
Must have working knowledge of ACI, ASTM, NYC Building Code and other applicable codes and requirements
Must have positive attitude, good aptitude, and strong initiative will integrate well with our existing group of outstanding professionals
Strong understanding of the fundamentals of concrete, ready mixed concrete, cement fly ash, slag and silica fume, aggregates, chemical admixtures, statistical methods for data evaluation, testing hardened concrete, concreting in extreme weather, extended delivery and returned concrete, quality control procedures, and production, delivery, handling, placing and finishing
Working knowledge of ACI, ASTM, and New York City Building Code as relates to concrete and concrete-related materials and quality procedures.
Ability to navigate Internet and client Intranet, including NYCDEP BEDC Epmis
Demonstrated experience in understanding drawings and specifications for water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
Must have the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with construction managers/ resident engineers/ contractors, technicians, designers, engineers, inspectors, laboratory technicians, and project managers for the preparation of high quality work products
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Google Maps, and other common business software and web-based applications
Must be able to interface comfortably with clients, lead client meetings, and conduct oral presentations
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive on behalf of the company
