LBG is actively seeking a highly talented Estimator for immediate employment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate and prepare construction estimates for various scope and size construction projects

  • Support estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives, including project work and backlog volume are met

  • Interfaces with vendors and subcontractors to elicit engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility and projected budget

  • Provide accurate quantity surveys of materials and labor for all CSI Trade categories, from conceptual through working drawings, during pre-construction and construction phases of the project

  • Assists with Estimating Manager to prepare information and data to work with the design team, client representatives and prospective subcontractors to analyze cost data regarding project feasibility and projected budget

  • Coordinates and participates in pre-bid meetings and contributes to bid strategy formulation with estimating and pre-construction team

  • Provide input and coordination of full estimating services on all size projects and contract types, including but not limited to quantity surveying/takeoff, drawing and specifications review, systems review and, value engineering, alternates analysis and sustainability review

  • Reviews estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to final bid submission

  • Ensures unit cost pricing for each trade through historical data or vendor contract

  • Strong knowledge and expertise of local markets for man-power and material availabilities

  • Review, quantify and price cost savings/value engineering opportunities

  • Analyze and compare bids with projected budget costs and explain differences and outliers to team

  • Engages with subcontractor community to gain assistance with budgeting and bidding

  • Participate in preparation of bid presentations to clients and assume significant responsibility for closing the “sale”

  • Provide advice, guidance, mentoring and direction to estimating staff and interns toward the achievement of their personal development goals

  • Understand project logistics and project schedule

Minimum Requirements

  • Four year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience

  • Knowledge of Estimating computer system and proficient knowledge of PC based applications such as Microsoft Excel, On Screen Take Off, Buildin Connected

  • Ability to communicate with all participants involved in the estimating process. Must be a team player

  • Must be able to work well under constant pressure of deadlines and prioritize tasks to meet schedules

  • Creative thinking is required to visualize all related trade items especially for conceptual estimating with a minimum of documentation

  • Coordinate and supervise a team of estimators to develop large, multi-disciplinary estimates

  • Must be able to present and describe your work to your supervisors, and other members of the pre-construction and project management team, as well as client representatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years prior estimating experience to provide proficiency in take-off and familiarization with standard construction details and drawings.

  • Maintain presence in professional association(s) (e.g. (e.g. BOMA, Associated Builders & Contractors, ABA, ACE, ASPE, AGC, USGBC, CASHE, DBIA) to keep abreast of industry advancements, build rapport with industry partners and maintain credentials

  • Specific market sector knowledge (ie. vertical construction, stadiums, etc…)

  • Residential, rental condo market office building experience required

  • Other Information:
