AECOM Landscape Architecture III in New York City, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Landscape Architect III to be based in New York, NY or in the surrounding area.

In this role you will be working in the following area:

  • Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.

  • Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.

  • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.

  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.

  • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets.

  • May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.

  • May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.

  • Introduced to the process of performing material take-offs for the discipline.

  • Introduced to the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidate must be a Professional Landscape Architect registered within the state of New York.

  • 4 + Years of Experience.

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field with Landscape Architecture Experience.

  • Be knowledgeable with NYC DOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details of Construction specific to pedestrian ramps, and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Must possess a valid driver's license, clean driving record, personal vehicle, and the ability to navigate to and through Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island, NY.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Standards for Accessible Design experience.

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel, Bluebeam or Adobe Photoshop, and have experience in obtaining field measurements and preparing site plans.

  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dusts, and noise.

  • Excellent business writing, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work within deadlines

  • Limited familiarity with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.

  • Intermediate understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents

Additional Information:

  • Travel is Required for this position.

  • You will need your own vehicle, but will be reimbursed for mileage and tolls.

  • Due to the nature of this role, US citizenship is required.

  • Position requires frequent standing/walking, operation of vehicles, work in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, working alone in isolated/remote areas, and performing keyboard/mouse operations.

  • Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including safety shoes/boots, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, and high visibility vest.

  • AECOM encourages, but does not require, its employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. However, this position is on a project or a worksite, which requires workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination or an approved accommodation must be received in order to enter an AECOM or worksite location in New York City, NY.
