AECOM is seeking a Deputy Construction Manager, this position will have overall responsibility for the design and coordination of technical issues among various disciplines on transportation projects involving highways, bridges and transit/rail structures and facilities.
The current $11.1 billion MTA-East Side Access program provides for new Long Island Rail Road service to the east side of Manhattan, supplementing existing service to Penn Station on Manhattan’s west side and Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn. The project encompasses work in multiple locations in Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx and includes more than 8 miles of tunneling
Duties & Responsibilities
Assists Construction Manager in all aspects of the management of specific ESA construction or systems contracts. In the Construction Manager’s absence, takes responsibility for contract management and administration. Assists Construction Manager in day-to-day management and direction to assigned CM staff and design professionals
As assigned by the Construction Manager, provides leadership to the CM staff in a variety of tasks, including evaluating and correcting construction progress, review of invoice documentation, and in tracking and remedying open issues.
Assists the CM and leads the team in monitoring contract budget and schedule requirements in executing the work and managing the construction contract.
Develops thorough understanding of all contract terms and conditions.
Interfaces and coordinates with other construction contractors, engineering managers, design engineers, document control, and/or administrative assistant to maintain and track various logs, reports, and correspondence.
Coordinates force account needs and protection to support contractor work efforts.
Attends progress meetings, reviews minutes and follow-up actions. Identifies issues and resolves them.
Supports the Construction Manager with contract documentation, contractor’s contract compliance, community relations, procurement interface, and monitoring the contractor’s safety, quality, cost and schedule performance.
Preparation of Weekly and Monthly Technical and Progress Reports
- BA/BS + 2 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education or BA/BS + 2 YORE or AA/AS (US) + 4 YORE or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 4 YORE or HS/GED + 6 YORE
- Previous East Side Access experience
