AECOM Code Compliance Manager in New York City, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Code Compliance Manager, this position will have overall responsibility for the design and coordination of technical issues among various disciplines on transportation projects involving highways, bridges and transit/rail structures and facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision of the Senior Code Compliance Manager, the incumbent will manage, coordinate, and track issues of the various project elements assigned, as they apply to code compliance, associated with design review, inspections during construction and issuance of plan review, inspection reports in accordance with all codes, rules and regulations of NYS and MTA agencies (MNR, Amtrak, NYCT and LIRR).

Assists and reports the NYC mandated Code Compliance Manager on ESA issues.

Manages and coordinates code compliance plan with the designers and elected railroads for the assigned project packages to include design review, interface with consultants to ensure regulatory agency issues and input are thoroughly addressed and coordinates strategy with all regulatory agency issues and inputs into assigned project's code compliance design development and acceptance processes.

Manages and tracks requests and issuances of project construction permits.

In conjunction with the Construction Manager, oversees construction inspectors on assigned project ensuring compliance with all codes, rules and regulations. When appropriate, recommends or causes others to issue notices of violation, stop work orders and temporary approval for occupancy.

Prepares code compliance certificates on completed 3rd party contractor’s construction work.

Provides overall guidance and supervision of subordinates.

Assists the Construction Manager in closing out code related issues and items at the end of the project.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 2 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • NYS Certified Code Enforcement Official, Registered Architect or Professional Engineer

  • Ability to obtain NYS Code Enforcement Official within 1 year of employment

  • project management skills, superior knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards, effective interface with multiple contractors
