The Senior Change Order Manager/Cost Engineer reports to the Resident Engineer & responsibilities include assisting and providing the documentation as below:
Identify Change Orders with client’s Contract Services Unit.
Assist in scoping of Field Condition Change Orders.
Produce Engineer’s Estimates for Field Condition Change Orders.
Assemble Contract Change Request packages for scope approval.
Issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) via client EPMIS system.
Produce independent estimates for non-field condition Change Orders to check validity of Engineer-of-Record produced Engineer’s Estimates.
Reviews contractor’s estimates.
Act as the lead in the negotiation of Change Orders.
Package negotiation documents.
Respond to auditor questions/comments.
Update change order logs as process steps take place.
Attend monthly internal change order update meetings and monthly change order update meetings with Contractor(s).
Other assignments as determined & directed by the CM or RE.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction or comparable degree
8 years of experience in engineering or the field of construction management
Experienced in engineering contract document review & processing change orders
Proven project record preparation and management experience aligning with client manuals and policies
Excellent organization skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience and understanding of New York Department of Environmental Protection SOPs
