AECOM is seeking an Urban Planner with NEPA Experience to be based in New Orleans, LA and Baton Rouge, LA

Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed planning products.
Usually performs as a staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty, a type of facility, industry, equipment or program function.
Monitors and ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws.
Oversees specialized planning functions, such as large-scale new development proposals and environmental studies.
Provides overall management of IE-related planning issues.
Advises the Planning Director on all planning-related matters.
Advises various councils, boards, commissions and elected officials in planning related issues
Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities.
Prepares reports on operations and activities, recommending improvements and modifications.
BA/BS + 6 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience with NEPA writing and related project work
Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, transportation planning, urban planning, transportation, GIS, public policy, or related area of study
Solid background in transportation and environmental planning preferred, but will consider a strong planner with infrastructure experience, even if not transportation.
Strong research and writing skills, detail-oriented and able to communicate ideas and synthesize/compile text for reports
Ability to support public outreach with diverse communities
Strong understanding of pertinent environmental federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations, including recent changes, procedures and practices
Passion for and some experience leading teams and working with clients or political leadership.
AECOM offers a diversity focused workspace

Knowledge of transportation planning guidance, requirements, and processes
Knowledge of the NEPA process and related environmental requirements and processes
Ability to manage and support planning projects in accordance with FTA and FHWA procedures, including planning and environmental linkage (PEL) studies
Working knowledge of GIS and graphics development for studies and reports
Knowledge of public outreach
