Job Summary

AECOM is seeking Construction Specialist to be based in either Baton Rouge, LA; New Orleans, LA; Houston, TX; or Austin, TX.

DCSA—Water

We deliver our services—from environmental planning studies to detailed design, construction management, and operations and maintenance—to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Our public sector work encompasses everything from small rural communities, to large urban centers, to agencies with regional responsibilities. Job Summary:

The Construction Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • Work with senior leadership and the applicant to identify projects that comply with the established categories of work for the Program.

  • Manage all aspects of pre-construction including, but not limited to: inspections, estimated costs to repair (ECR), surveying, development of program-compliant plans and specifications and any other construction documents required by the Program.

  • Maintain a complete understanding of the all applicable Program policies and requirements.

  • Oversee the implementation of specific parts of the construction project, which may include oversight and distribution of resources within the specific functional area.

  • Inspect and determine extent of damage to residential and/or commercial properties.

  • Develop scopes of work and cost information/estimates for repair or replacement of disaster related residential or commercial property damage.

  • Manage team members and monitor General Contractors during disaster recovery residential repairs/construction.

  • Implement reporting procedures for pre-construction and construction activities

  • Maintain a complete understanding of local building codes and regulations and coordinate with local building officials.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma + Six (6) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required

  • A valid U.S. Driver’s License is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Disaster Recovery housing and/or residential construction experience

  • CDBG-BR and/or FEMA hazard mitigation experience

  • Experience using Microsoft Office

  • Xactimate certification preferred but not required

  • Ability to read construction plans

  • Familiarity with building codes

  • Experience working on disaster recovery projects within the Gulf Coast Region
