Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer-Oman.Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be the Environmental Engineer for multiple concurrent contamination investigations projects of varying size and complexity, with a particular focus on the Oil and Gas Industry. With an uncompromising commitment to health and safety and client service, you will be a highly experienced environmental candidate who will be able to multi-task, carry out field work, supervise subcontractors in the field (including drilling companies), liaise with laboratories, prepare reports and responsible for manage the in country requirements of the projects/program.

Job Duties:

  • Performing routine Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessment, Soil Sampling during UST removal, Groundwater Monitoring Events and other contaminated Land Management related projects:

  • HSSE protocols;

  • Site history investigation;

  • Supervision of drilling companies during drilling and installation of monitoring wells

  • Soil sampling;

  • Groundwater sampling using bailer, low-flow or other sampling techniques;

  • Lease with laboratories

  • Aquifer evaluation: slug test

  • LNAPL mobility assessment: baildown test or other methods.

  • Report/specification preparation;

  • Supporting Management activities:

  • Management of equipment maintenance and calibration

  • Supervise drilling permit process

  • Development of new subcontractors and suppliers

  • Management of local requirements of the projects/program.

Specific Skills Required:

  • Environmental Soil and groundwater sampling

  • Supervision of drilling companies for borehole drilling and installation of monitoring wells

Additional Comments :

  • Experience in remediation services;

  • H&S training: HAZWOPER;

  • Experience with AutoCAD and GIS;

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of project experience in the region;

  • Contaminated Land Management projects: Phase I & II Environmental Assessment, Grpundwater Monitoring Plans, Due Diligence

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Environmental Engineering;

  • Minimum of 5 years of project experience in the region;

  • Experience in commensurate with specified job responsibilities;

  • Experience in conducting and coordinating Environmental Phase I and Phase II Assessments for projects in the Oil and Gas sector.

  • Coordination with subcontractors as: drilling companies, laboratories and others.

  • An understanding of the EIA processes (including screening and scoping), environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation;

  • Proven report writing, technical reviewing and communication skills;

  • Full driving license and own vehicle.

  • Flexible working hours;

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Google Maps, and other common business software and web-based applications

  • Willingness to travel.
