Job Summary

  • Manages strategic relationship development in Utah market

  • Tracks, plans, and pursues public involvement and communications contracts

  • Supports the pursuit of engineering contracts with a communications element through the development of responses and the attendance to interviews, as needed.

  • Supports the business development efforts of public involvement group in 22-State region

  • Manages the full lifecycle of public affairs projects and initiatives in both environmental and construction phases.

  • Negotiates relationships and teaming arrangements with sub consultants to strategically pursue work

  • Strategizes on best practices and risk communications.

  • Assists with media outreach, as appropriate.

  • Communicates with client, directly both as a function of management of work and for relationship building.

  • Facilitates public meetings

  • Independently performs all assignments, with assistance furnished for unusual problems/situations.

  • Mentors and guides junior level employees and other communications contributors

  • Maximizes opportunities to cross-sell other services as a part of communications portfolio.

  • Manages the schedules and budgets of other internal contributors to communications contracts (visualizations, web development, etc.)

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in a communications field

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in public involvement and communications

Preferred Qualifications

  • MA/MS in a communications field

  • Experience working on public involvement projects and programs with the Utah Department of Transportation, the Utah Transit Authority, Salt Lake County or equivalent agencies

  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign
