Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented and creative Site Safety Health Officer for our project in Kings Bay, Georgia.

Job description:

  • Implements policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with health and safety requirements of the organization.

  • Provides technical leadership and functional guidance to ensure regulatory standards are being enforced.

  • Ensures that quality control procedures are executed to monitor all aspects of regulations.

  • Serves in a liaison capacity with the resident contract agency representative and other various agencies engaged in promoting environmental safety and health activities.

  • Drafts all necessary reports to federal, state and local agencies.

  • Coordinates audits of health and safety programs within the organization.

  • Assists in the development and conducts basic health, safety and environment (HSE) training to employees.

  • Communicates programs to enhance employee awareness of prevention and compliance.

  • May administer a HSE program on a large, specialized, complex project or multiple projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in a related degree + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • 30 hour OSHA Construction Safety course or as an equivalent, 30 hours of formal construction safety and health training covering the subjects of the 30 hour OSHA course.

  • 5 years of construction industry safety experience or 3 years if candidate possesses a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or safety and health degree.

  • Ability to manage, implement and enforce the Contractor’s Safety and Health Program in accordance with the accepted APP.

  • 8 hours of documented formal safety training every year

  • Previous experience with (USACE) EM 385-1-1

  • Competent in fall protection and confined space entry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with roof replacement projects

  • Previous experience working on marine projects, wharf, or dock repair projects

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification
