AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, entry-level Civil Engineer for immediate employment in our Morrisville, NC office, located less than 10 miles from Raleigh, NC.AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. You will gain experience in your discipline through learning on the job and participate in development opportunities during the program, including access to AECOM's social media resources, group mentoring, and professional networking. The program also has learning activities that will be available to you, including webinars and on-line programs.
The appropriately qualified applicant will have the opportunity to work with an established team of engineering professionals on a variety of water, wastewater, stormwater, and water resources projects. This position will provide the opportunity to learn the full life-cycle of civil engineering design and construction. Work assignments will include feasibility studies, engineering calculations, hydraulic modeling, permitting. CAD design, construction plans and specifications, and construction phase services. This is an excellent opportunity to develop the skills necessary to become a licensed professional engineer while being mentored by senior engineers in a team environment. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related curriculum
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Maps, and other common business software and web-based applications
Minimum 6 months technical work experience in civil engineering or related field (e.g. summer internships, Co-Op).
Must be able to conduct field work, tolerate variable environmental conditions, walk on uneven surfaces, and lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
Must be able to travel on business periodically for periods of up to 2-3 days
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive rental vehicles on behalf of the company
Must be able to work collaboratively in teams and independently when necessary
Requires entrance into the medical monitoring program which includes initial and annual physicals as well as client required drug screens.
Must be able to strictly adhere to Health and Safety protocols both in the office and in the field.
Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
Proficiency with Civil 3D, Microstation, or other design/drafting tools” as a preferred skill.
Experience collecting location data using mapping grade GPS and post processing data
Experience with ESRI suite of GIS software products including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox.
