AECOM is seeking a mechanical engineer to support operations at the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory in Morgantown, WV. This position will primarily support the engineering research group by; performing small scale R&D design projects, evaluating and optimizing existing systems, troubleshooting system, and working closely with the site technicians.
Efficiently use AutoDesk AutoCAD and Inventor to prepare mechanical engineering drawings in 2D and 3D including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mechanical fabrication drawings, and room/building layout drawings.
Complete Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of small scale designs using ANSYS software.
Prepare and check moderately complex calculations within the Mechanical Engineering discipline, including pipe/vessel design calculations and pressure relief valve sizing calculations in accordance with ASME codes such as B31.3, Section VIII and IX.
Independently lead design/build projects across all 3 NETL sites.
Review interdisciplinary engineering documents and work with other members of the engineering team to resolve any issues.
Create and/or review purchase orders, statements of work, and subcontracts.
Support in-house technicians on new installations and maintenance/modification issues.
Assist with the development of man hour estimates for design, fabrication, and installation.
Maintain a positive working relationship with and communicate effectively to the customer.
Limited day travel to the Pittsburgh NETL sister site required. (5%-10%)
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
7 Plus years’ experience,
PE in West Virginia
