Job Description
AECOM Buildings + PlacesArchitectural team is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Montreal-based team.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.
Major Responsibilities:
Trains and coordinates with engineering and technical support staff.
Design full Storm Water Drainage System engineering projects, programs and operations to ensure planning, development and construction are in compliance with all applicable City/State/federal codes and regulations, and according to all acceptable engineering practices.
Design full waste Water Drainage System engineering projects, programs and operations to ensure planning, development and construction are in compliance with all applicable City/State/federal codes and regulations, and according to all acceptable engineering practices.
Manages and evaluates Hydraulic Analysis of all Drainage Basins.
Performs highly complex engineering and design work of Storm Water infrastructure projects; manages design and construction contracts and projects.
Manages, reviews and approves Storm Water infrastructure design and construction; ensures all work is approved for compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Performs field work, surveys and site inspections; directs and reviews engineering work in the construction, maintenance and repair of municipal Storm Water Drainage System.
Provides technical information and interpretation to the general public, developers, permitting agencies, consultants, contractors and other City staff.
Advises project Manager, department heads and other officials on Storm / waste Water Drainage System planning policies; provides information and interpretation of codes and regulations regarding development issues.
Researches, prepares reports, drafts specifications, and presents recommendations for special Storm Water Drainage System construction and improvement projects and Capital Improvement Programs.
Maintains active communication with contractors, engineers, surveyors, government agencies and the general public for any engineering, surveying or construction issues.
Preferred Requirements:
Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions.
Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
Ability to effectively supervise and train a staff comprised of entry and journey level professionals engaged in carrying out departmental functions.
Thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to Storm Water Drainage Systems.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public works engineering and Storm Water Drainage System operations
Thorough knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing engineering activities of public works construction and renovations.
Knowledge of advanced level mathematical computations, including geometry, trigonometry and calculus.
Skill in design and development of improvement and project plans, related work specifications, and related design formats that render proposed project concepts.
Skill in researching, compiling, and summarizing statistical data and related materials.
Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, management, contractors, consultants and the general public.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
At a very minimum candidates must have a University degree in relevant field of study + (four) 4 years of relevant experience to be considered.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may also be considered.
