AECOM’s Transit and Rail Signals group is seeking a Transit & Rail Signals Senior Design Engineer to help lead an existing team of 4 design engineers and technicians. The position is open for immediate employment based out of AECOM’s Mississauga, Ontario office. This is a position of an experienced signals design engineer who is seeking a Senior position in their field.
This individual would deliver both large and small-scale signals projects in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Canada, and at times in the US as well. As a senior design team member, the successful applicant will have multiple roles:
Team Management / Leadership:
Primary role as a Senior Signals design engineer.
Attend client meetings.
Act as the designated signals/systems specialist.
Comply with corporate safety, values and initiatives.
- Projects will be for:
o North American heavy-rail freight and passenger systems to AREMA C&S standards
o LRT and Subway transit systems
- Perform design, review, and checking (up to 3rd level) for:
o New and modified vital circuitry and application logic programs for automatic block systems, centralized traffic control, interlockings, and highway grade crossing warning systems.
Review own work and work done by others for adherence to applicable standards, rules and regulations, as well as all applicable client standards and signal design policies and procedures.
Prepare technical specifications.
Perform hands-on design.
P.Eng sealing of own drawings for as-installed conditions.
Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
6+ years experience
P. Eng. licensed in any Province or eligible within 12 months
Experience with Metrolinx, TTC, CN, CP, VIA
Rail, AMT or similar.
Understanding of CN (GI’s & SCP’s) or CP (RP’s).
Experience with LRT and/or subway signaling.
In addition to office-based design, also experience with testing/commissioning, construction, maintenance, and/or operations
