Job Description

AECOM is actively searching for an exceptional leader to take charge of our dynamic Water Resources group in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This role presents a unique blend of hybrid work, allowing you to collaborate with the team in person on a weekly basis, while being situated in one of our prime GTA offices in Mississauga, Whitby or Markham.

Your triumph in this position will be gauged by:

  • Group Expansion: Leading the expansion and enhancement of the group's capabilities.

As the Water Resources Group Manager, you will:

  • Strategic Leadership: Devise, communicate, and take ownership of a strategic roadmap to elevate AECOM's standing within the Water Resources market sector, with special emphasis on GTA and Ontario.

  • Team Growth: Develop a well-balanced team in alignment with the strategic plan, collaborating with Operation Management to identify key recruits that will fuel growth and support succession planning.

  • Effective Management: Oversee team dynamics, utility, performance evaluations, and timesheet approvals.

  • Business Development: Collaborate with capture managers on critical pursuits while adhering to allocated budget for business development.

  • Strategic Pursuits: Identify and take charge of capturing high-priority and key projects in the GTA's Water Resources sector.

  • Client Relationships: Foster strong relationships with key clients in the sector.

  • Pipeline Accuracy: Ensure precision of the Salesforce pipeline data for Water Resources opportunities within the sector.

  • Prepositioning for Success: Strategically position the team for upcoming prospects to optimize proposal success.

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor group performance indicators through insightful reports to track sales growth, cost management, and achievement of win and booking targets.

  • Networking and Representation: Represent the local market sector within the AECOM network, liaising with internal stakeholders for reporting and business functions.

  • Client Insights: Analyze client trends to shape strategic decisions, supported by feedback surveys.

  • Client Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, while coordinating team participation in relevant conferences and sponsorship opportunities.

  • Project Leadership: Act as both a project manager and mentor, guiding potential young project managers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Expertise and Experience: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Water Resources, Civil Engineering, or related field + 8 years of water resources project involvement in Ontario.

  • Client Relationships: Possess established client connections within GTA.

  • Team Management: Demonstrate prior experience in managing teams.

  • Professional Certification: Registered as a P. Eng. in Ontario.

  • Regulatory Understanding: Familiarity with water resources policies and practices in Ontario.

  • Project Management: Display interest and competence in taking on Project Management responsibilities, encompassing schedule, budget control, client interactions, and proposal composition.

  • Proposal Aptitude: Skilled in crafting proposals, including scoping work, time task breakdowns, and technical content.

  • Technical Proficiency: Excel in computer skills, particularly in advanced GIS, Word, and Excel applications.

  • Mobility: Hold a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive Expertise: More than 10 years of in-depth water resources experience.

  • Diverse Experience: Exposure to design and construction related to transportation/transit infrastructure, stormwater, erosion control, and slope stability projects is an added advantage.

  • Technical Mastery: Proficiency in cost estimation, tender packages preparation, and contract administration.

  • Collaboration Skills: Thrive in teamwork, boasting quick learning, effective communication, and strong interpersonal capabilities.

  • Organization and Communication: Possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
