AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Planner for employment in the GTA area – namely in either the Guelph, Hamilton, Mississauga or Markham offices.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Work with, and support, intermediate and senior Environmental Planners in carrying out Environmental Assessments and other approvals and permitting activities for municipal, energy, transit and highway projects
Assist with coordinating, organizing, preparing for, attending, and documenting project meetings
Assist with the coordination of consultation programs, public, stakeholder, regulatory agency and Indigenous engagement
Assist with the coordination of environmental specialists (i.e., fisheries, terrestrial, noise, air, archaeology, etc.)
Assist with Environmental Assessment implementation and Compliance Monitoring Programs
Support business development efforts, including proposal writing
Research, conceptualize, plan, and write drafts of reports related to planning, design and permitting
Bachelors degree or diploma in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Planning or related field
Strong writing and presentation abilities
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, report writing skills and ability to work well with a team
Ability to plan and prioritize work to manage multiple assignments at one time
Master’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Planning or related field
Eligibility for membership in a professional body (e.g. Registered Professional Planner (RPP and MCIP); or Canadian Environmental Professional (EP)
Experience engaging with Aboriginal communities is an asset
Familiarity with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act, and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act is an asset
Familiarity with the Fisheries Act, Endangered Species Act, Navigation Protection Act, Environmental Protection Act and other relevant legislation
Knowledge of other relevant Ontario Legislation and Provincial Policy (i.e., the Planning Act, the Greenbelt Act, etc.)
Bilingual (English and French) an asset
