Job Description
ECOM has a position available for a Senior Acoustic Engineer specializing in vibration in Mississauga, Ontario. In this role you will be working with a close-knit team of engineers and specialists to prepare analysis and recommendations in a range of fields, such as industrial environmental compliance, transportation planning and design (railways/highways), construction, architectural acoustics and mechanical noise and vibration control. You will interact with multidisciplinary teams within AECOM and with external clients and agencies.
The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Lead and perform site work including attended and unattended vibration measurements, logger set up, and site reviews
Work independently on projects or in combination with junior staff
Vibration calculations, analyses and software based modelling
Assessment of vibration impacts and development of specification and design for vibration isolation solutions related to rail (light rail, subway, commuter trains, etc.) based vibration
Review of relevant design drawings (e.g., architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural and civil)
Preparation of technical documents such as work plans and reports
Working with internal teams and external clients
Ensuring accuracy and quality of technical information and project documentation
Contributing to career development of other technical staff including technical direction, training, and coaching or mentoring
Work in accordance with AECOM’s Safety, Health & Environment and Quality Management System policies

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
BA/BS, M.S., or Ph.D and 8+ years of demonstrated relevant experience or a combination of experience and/or education in vibration
Designated Professional Engineer or eligible for designation in Canadian jurisdictions
Eligible for driver's license in Ontario
Experienced in advanced vibration measurement techniques, data collection and processing, including force transfer mobility testing
Experience with vibration assessments and analyses related to rail transportation including all aspects of the FTA’s Detailed Assessment method
Demonstrated
Client/service focus experience required
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelors degree or higher level of education in science, engineering, or closely related field
10+ years of relevant experience
Knowledge of vibration measurement and analysis for buildings, such as dynamic excitation and response measurement, and design for sensitive equipment
Familiarity with structural dynamics software such as SAP2000
Experience completing noise assessments and familiarity with acoustical modeling software (e.g., CADNA) and standards.
A familiarity with national and international regulations and standards pertaining to noise and vibration issues
Work experience in a consulting engineering firm
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with others
Excellent technical writing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
CAD skills/experience – e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation
Programming skills/experience – e.g. MATLAB, LabVIEW
perience – e.g. MATLAB, LabVIEW
