AECOM Senior Hydrogeologist in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Senior Project Hydrogeologist to oversee hydrogeologic-related activities associated with a high-profile and complex project with PFAS impacts located in the East Metropolitan region of Minneapolis/St. Paul along with other assignments. The position requires an especially accomplished individual to spearhead a very demanding yet rewarding long-term project involving PFAS impacts. This position is for immediate employment in our Minneapolis, MN office

Applicants will have no less than 8 years of verifiable experience in roles performing hydrogeologic investigations and associated analysis and reporting of contaminant impacts to aquifers.

Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Manages and directs professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects

  • Leads team by utilizing advanced scientific principles, theories, practices existing technologies and past experience to develop technical solutions to complex problems

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Performs work with minimal direction

  • Oversees the preparation of technical work plans and organizes project studies

  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team

  • Supervises junior and mid-level staff during all phases of hydrogeologic-related project work

  • Proven experience successfully managing high-profile, multi-faceted projects involving petroleum impacts to drinking water aquifers

  • Thorough working knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, and the NCP

  • Professional experience with at least 8 of those years in a prominent role on identifiable CERCLA, RCRA, DoD, or State of Minnesota State Programs

  • Expertise in fractured media, complex hydrogeology, groundwater flow modeling, and modeling of fate and transport of subsurface dissolved plumes in the vadose and saturated zones

  • Experienced in the drilling of deep wells, and hydrogeological testing and investigation

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills

  • Superior communications, writing, editing, and reporting skills, for a wide variety of audiences

  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, and schedules

  • Must understand and have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal or State environmental projects

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Engineering, Science or related field

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Must be willing to relocate to Minneapolis, MN

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Hydrogeology, Geology or related field with + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Overall professional experience including 10 of those years in a prominent role on Hydrogeologic projects and 2 years on PFAS-related projects

  • Working knowledge of PFAS compounds

  • Expertise in fractured media, complex hydrogeology, groundwater flow modeling, and modeling of fate and transport of subsurface PFAS plumes in the vadose and saturated zones

  • Experienced in the drilling of deep wells, and hydrogeological testing and investigation

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills

  • Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

  • Relocation will be provided for this role
