AECOM Project Engineer - Water Resources in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

AECOM is actively seeking a Water Resources Engineer with 5 or more years of experience to be located in the Middleton, Wisconsin office. The water resources engineer will join our expanding Water Department (currently 9 people) that focuses primarily on municipal and water resources engineering. The ideal candidate will have a background in project management, client relationships, planning, preliminary and final design, and construction-related services of water resources projects. This position is primarily a technical position, with room to grow into a senior technical or project manager role.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Apply proven experience to the planning and design of water resources projects including H&H modeling and floodplain mapping, stormwater quality modeling, flood control projects, stormwater treatment, site development, and transportation-related drainage design.
Provide engineering review of stormwater and erosion control plans.
Develop scopes of work and budgets for water resources projects or for water resources components of larger projects.
Work with junior staff on production and assist in their professional development.
Prepare permit applications and pursue approval.
Developing and formulating cost-effective, technical solutions to client problems on assigned projects.
Preparing documentation related to current or prospective projects, including plans, specifications, construction cost estimates, correspondence, and reports.
Communicating and working with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards.
Collaborating with other groups across AECOM offices.
Field work will be required on an occasional basis to support land surveyor and construction engineers.
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university (preferably Civil).
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (preferably in Wisconsin).
5+ years’ water resources engineering experience
Familiarity with stormwater modeling software (XP-SWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, WinSLAMM, HY-8, etc.).
Good attention to details and accuracy of work
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently, strong interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong computer skills with ability to learn new technical software applications
Valid US driver’s license
Technical skills in design preparation using design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation GeoPAK, and GIS.
Knowledge of local and state storm water management and erosion control requirements.
Experience in planning, preliminary and final design, and construction related services.
Experience in working with Wisconsin DNR, Corps of Engineers and other regulatory agencies.
