AECOM has a position available for an Environmental Scientist to work in Midland, MI.
In this role the individual will contribute to a technically diverse team that provides on-site consultative support at client facilities. The successful candidate works independently to perform assignments, developing high quality deliverable products with limited instruction or oversight, and is comfortable working with multiple client customers.
The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to:
Provides technical guidance related to environmental regulations under CWA, CAA, RCRA (40CFR) as well as State and local regulations.;
Obtain data needed to develop process knowledge documents for waste characterization;
Willingness to understand and build process flow diagrams to determination point of generation for waste streams;
Evaluates waste streams by reviewing supporting analytical report results, SDS, process knowledge data, diagrams or narratives to support appropriate classification of waste;
Ensures waste is properly classified as Hazardous or Non-hazardous by applying RCRA regulations and guidance as well as state regulations and guidance as needed (with guidance from senior waste characterization staff);
Evaluates and responds to client phone calls, e-mail and inquiries about RCRA regulations, analytical requirements, type of waste containers recommended, options for waste disposals sites, etc. with guidance from senior AECOM technical staff;
Develop SPCC and PIPP documentation for a wide range of industrial clients;
Knowledgeable in NPDES rules and regulations, specifically related to storm water management and pollution prevention;
Experience with environmental regulatory reporting;
Familiar with DHS rules and regulations
BA/BS in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field
2+ years of relevant experience in an environmental regulatory role or demonstrated equivalent combination of knowledge, abilities and experience
Qualified applicants who are offered a position are required to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Must possess valid Driver’s license
Due to nature and location of work, United States Citizenship or Naturalized Citizenship is required.
Experience in the Petrochemical Industry
Ability to communicate verbally and in written form to impart technical information and interact with clients and regulatory personnel
RCRA Management of Hazardous Waste Training
Certified Industrial Storm water Operator
