Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Project Manager to work at a client facility near Michigan City, IN. This position is contingent upon contract award with anticipated hire date of January 2019.

The Site Project Manager is the AECOM representative communicating directly with client to develop project plans and orchestrate project execution from initial planning through construction and turnover. This position will liaison with our New Orleans based Global Project Management Office and design teams. This person will report directly to the Program Manager to lead all aspects of projects in their assigned facility. This person will coordinate with local plant management groups to develop and execute project with in the client capital plan, and work with clients to also develop projects that have positive impact to the operation. This person will manage primarily a small project portfolio to ensure client expectations and contract obligations are met following both AECOM and client program Safety, Quality Assurance and Accounting procedures. This person will oversee an onsite support staff that may include a process / project engineer, contract / construction manager, and HSSE Officer.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct project development at a catalyst production plant.

  • Capital Plan and Project Scope development oversight

  • Change Order Development and Scoping

  • Planning/Scheduling of resource requirements for project

  • Coordinate with client, design and construction teams to facilitate resolution of project challenges.

  • Work with construction manager and local contractors to implement project design packages

  • Respond to client requests in a timely manner and appropriate manner

  • Document decisions made through all forms of communication with clients and team members.

  • Manage project budgets to meet capital plan commitments

  • Ensure Turnover and Closeout of projects in accordance to program and site specific requirements

  • Will be primary AECOM point of contact for local plant personnel and remote project design and procurement teams.

  • Assists with the development of project plans, including estimates, client gate reviews, and scope.

  • Creates the optimum balance between design plant costs and costs of service.

  • Prepares and issues Project Execution Plans (PXP), and ensures that all necessary and appropriate client requirements, procedures and standards are incorporated.

  • Develops plan to support procurement of all engineered items to be purchased for project in conjunction with the Global Procurement Manager.

  • Supports Project Manager

  • Provides over site and performance evaluations of project execution against KPIs and collaborates with other SPMs for common methodology to work.

  • Keeps client and Global Program Manager, advised of project progress, performance and manpower utilization with particular attention to delays, adverse trends, errors and omissions.

  • Assures proper documentation of meetings, agreements, conversations, etc. that affect the conduct of the project.

  • Coordinates the client’s comments and needs with GMO

  • Requests the employment of expert consultants when deemed necessary for the project.

  • Encourages and assists in the technical and managerial development of subordinates.

  • Reviews engineering performance on the project to ensure quality, conformance with conceptual design and completeness of engineering tasks.

  • Reviews Project Change Requests (ECRs, FCRs, etc) and dispositions change order candidates, segregates cost collection and manages the pertinent aspects of charge order management

  • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.

  • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  • Fully understands the role of each functional area within the company.

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalent combination of experience and education.


  • Minimum of 8 years of project management experience for industrial construction projects

  • Experience with end-to-end development and delivery of small capital project programs in leading role

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Fluent with Microsoft Applications, Construction Drawings, and Capital Project Schedules

  • Must possess or be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Uncompromising standards of safety

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management

  • Previous experience working for an EPC organization
