AECOM Field Management Superintendent II in Michigan City, Indiana

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Construction Manager to manage all the industrial MEP construction works on our project site in Michigan City, IN.

This position is contingent upon contract award with anticipated hire date of January 2019. The goal of this position is to ensure that the actual construction of the project is carried out in a safe manner, to the agreed specification and quality established by the client, and is completed within the frame work of the project program.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

The overall program will likely have multiple projects being constructed concurrently and may result in unrelated work in a collocated area. Also, construction will be in an operating facility, and construction events may be sequenced to take advantage of turnarounds or outages to implement tie ins to critical services that cannot be normally isolated.

In the role of Construction Manager your key duties include:

Project Preparation

  • Monitoring, checking all project progress, documentation, file system and distribution.

  • Advising on Permitting and Approvals requirements

  • Assist with obtaining Technical Conditions

Design

  • Review design for constructability and overall work sequencing with in the program to minimize mobilization

  • Identify scope of design interfaces.

  • Identify need for mock-ups.

  • Prepare product safety and quality plans.

Construction Procurement

  • Analyze construction capabilities of bidders

  • Assist preparation of bid documentation.

  • Evaluate bidder, develop relationships with local providers.

  • Assist contract negotiations.

  • Develop preliminary construction program.

Construction

  • Support the AECOM site project manager in the execution of the projects during all phases of the project development, and implementation as requested..

  • Design development and buildability of the concept/detailed designs.

  • Audit agreed quality plans and ensure that they are undertaken on site.

  • Check Contractors’ Safety Plans

  • Ensure contractors adhere to Safety Plans

  • Uphold statutory regulations.

  • Control impact of construction on the environment.

  • Control logistics and security.

  • Temporary field accommodation and welfare.

  • Materials handling.

  • Implement and manage induction/cost against project plans.

  • Prepare monthly reports, photographs.

  • Ensure inspection of all works, defects, backlogs and their repairing.

Other

  • Co-operation with other team members.

  • Carry out performance reviews with their subordinates.

  • Inform regularly his superior about all progress.

  • Establish and maintain local law legislation and company Health and Safety standards on the sites, use Health and Safety tools.

  • Build and maintain good reputation of the company.

  • During his/her activities use adequate qualification, competencies, professional expertise and care which can be expected from a qualified employee on this position.

  • Become acquainted with company internal rules and regulations, procedures and policies and adhere to these.

  • Become acquainted with new rules and methods, improve qualification and language knowledge.

  • Keep confidentiality about all facts which are considered or declared as confidential.

  • If an ISO system applied, implement and adhere to the current requirements of this quality control system.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalent combination of experience and education.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of construction management experience on industrial facilities including demonstrated leadership in capital projects in an operating industrial facility

  • Fluent with Microsoft Applications, Construction Drawings, and Capital Project Schedules

  • Experience with end-to-end development and delivery of small capital project programs in leading construction management role

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated earned value management in field applications

  • Good job organization and time management

  • Effective communication

  • Thorough knowledge of the construction process

  • Must possess or be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
