Job Summary

AECOM Construction Services are looking to fill a key role in their Safety, Health and Environment team based from either their Melbourne or Sydney office. This is an opportunity to work across a diverse construction portfolio in various industry sectors, such as Civil Infrastructure, Healthcare, Education, Defence and Industrial programs of work.

The successfully appointed SH&E Manager will be based within AECOM Construction Services and will be responsible for developing safe systems of work (training, processes, procedures) and assisting in the initial set up of safety and environment systems and processes across AECOMs managed construction sites. Therefore, you will provide ongoing guidance and support to various site teams, including audits and regular monitoring and involvement in planning high risk activities.

The role will also form part of the Safety Management Team within the ANZ geography and will facilitate a unified safety approach. This will include travel to specific projects/sites as well as office facilitation.

The SH&E Manager will lead monthly safety meetings with regional safety and business leaders nationwide.

Minimum Requirements

To succeed in the role of SH&E Manager within AECOM Construction Services, you will be proven and capable across program and change management, with a strength in civil construction projects and a positive leadership mentality.

As an SH&E Manager you will be a confident and driven leader, with excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills in order to progress major construction projects to timelines and work with effective SH&E systems, policy and compliance. Therefore, it is essential that you can provide complex and varied stakeholder groups with a key point-of-contact, regular updates and a consistent effort to uphold best practice relating to hazards, risks and incidents.

You will be capable of developing, implementing and monitoring AECOMs management systems to continually improve safety and environmental performance in a client-facing environment across a diversified project portfolio. Alongside this, you will be able to assist with proposals, tenders, bids and project plans where necessary.

Reporting to the Managing Director, your SH&E background and experience will be diverse and you will be able to confidently provide regular reporting to local leadership while developing and communicating annual KPIs for the Construction Services SH&E team.

This is a leadership role which will enable your positive management style to be utilised coherently across diverse SH&E topics such as; incident investigation, works compensation, risk assessment, emergency planning, program management, site setup and delivery, employee training and contract/sub-contractor management.
