Job Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant role to join our team and continue to provide excellent service to our clients in the strategic planning of Australia’s rail networks, and major, landmark rail projects shaping Australia’s cities.

AECOM’s Rail Strategy and Operations advisory team is one of the most experienced teams in Australia. The team has played a significant role in the planning of the major Australian railway networks, with clients including State and Commonwealth government transport departments and public and private sector rail operating agencies and companies. We have extensive experience working with clients and colleagues on multi-disciplinary teams on major projects, including rail engineering, rail signalling, systems engineering, transport planning and economic analysis, and have a strong reputation for delivering well-communicated, quality insight utilising scientific analysis and extensive industry knowledge.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide transport and rail modelling leadership and support for projects

  • Ensuring project outputs / outcomes are clearly and effectively communicated to the client and key project stakeholders

  • Providing timely, accurate advice maximising value for clients

  • Lead and assist the development of project tenders / proposals

Minimum Requirements

We are looking for your experience in the following areas:

  • 5 – 10 years experience in either public and/or private sector, in rail planning and operations analysis.

  • Detailed understanding of key aspects influencing operations and capacity, including signalling systems, rollingstock, stations and network infrastructure

  • Experience in transport planning, transport infrastructure planning and design specification for rail network development, including application / incorporation of demand modelling in development of operational / timetable scenarios and model calibration, and infrastructure scenario identification and assessment.

  • Highly proficient in the use and application of RailSys and other simulation and analysis tools, for operational and infrastructure assessment, at strategic through to project level.

  • Experience with use of other rail simulation and data analysis tools, and developing procedures for efficient data processing and modelling.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to proactively manage risks, issues and conflicting priorities to successfully deliver projects
