AECOM Professional / Senior Sustainability Consultant in Melbourne, Australia

Job Summary

AECOM’s Melbourne Sustainability & Resilience team is a group of like-minded professionals working collaboratively to deliver outstanding sustainability and resilience outcomes for our cities and communities. We are collaborative, grounded and maintain a strong focus on planetary outcomes beneficial to our natural and communal environment. We are seeking Professional and Senior Professional advisors with interests in sustainability, decarbonisation and climate resilience to join our team of diverse, supportive, change orientated professionals.

Through AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies strategy, we are embedding sustainability and resilience into everything we do. We are currently working across a number of major projects and clients to help implement and facilitate ideas, initiatives and tools to better understand and address sustainability and resilience challenges. We are using our skills and strengths to drive change, develop solutions and support our clients and projects to meet and exceed their sustainability goals and objectives. This role will provide you the opportunity to work on unique, impactful projects helping our clients and communities reduce their environmental and social impacts and adjust to a changing climate. The role also presents opportunities to work collaboratively across AECOM design and engineering teams and the broader ANZ Sustainability and Resilience practice on projects from the local to the national and international scales. The types of projects we get involved in include embedding sustainability and resilience into the planning and delivery of infrastructure, undertaking climate risk and adaptation studies and developing community resilience strategies .

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support projects to prepare outputs and deliverables that meet contract requirements and are aligned with project plans

  • Provide technical advice to resolve client and project requirements

  • Prepare reports, proposals, tender documents and correspondence

  • Work collaboratively across AECOM’s business lines and regions to support an embedded approach aligned with AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies strategy

  • Undertake ad-hoc project related tasks as required which may include studies and assessments, data analysis, technical writing, presentations, and legislation research

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients to enhance client retention and growth.

Minimum Requirements

Ideally, you will have:

  • 3+ years’ experience working in sustainability and resilience and an understanding of current industry trends related to infrastructure sustainability and climate resilience is desirable

  • Consulting, engineering, decarbonisation and/or resource modelling experience will be highly regarded

  • Demonstrated experience working in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment

  • Passion for innovation and project delivery

  • Collaborative team and client approach

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in sustainability, environmental science/management, environmental engineering (or similar).
