We are committed to managing our business with the upmost responsibility and are looking for a First Nations Director in our Melbourne Buildings and Places team to strive for better – creating social value and connecting our projects to the cultural values and knowledge systems of Traditional Owners.

This is an opportunity to influence major engineering projects and apply First Nations self-determination principles on major projects, to establish accountability and strong governance across project lifecycles. You will assist our clients, architects, and subcontractors to help inform the respectful application of design principles and seek appropriate approvals for using work that incorporates First Nations knowledge.

Minimum Requirements

As a First Nations Director we need you to harness your First Nations knowledge and connections to influence and educate clients and internal/external stakeholders, while acting as a relationship broker to ensure processes surrounding the inclusion of cultural intelligence inputs across the delivery of our major projects is respectful and mutually beneficial.

Some attributes and experience we would consider valuable for this role would also be:

  • Demonstrable and proven experience in stakeholder engagement. Understanding how to connect and influence with people.

  • Prior experience representing First Nations communities, sharing and educating cultural values and connecting with local community.

  • An understanding of the complexities around general project delivery and incorporating the connections and cultural aspects of First Nations peoples.

  • A genuine interest and passion in generating design concepts with our engineers that illustrate projects’ First Nations connection and incorporates culture and knowledge in designs.

  • Understanding policy and have a unique connection with the land, understanding the spirituality aspects of what is important on the land and the owners’ processes of this land.

  • Strong ability to communicate, both written and verbally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience within a corporate environment is beneficial but not essential.

  • Participation in Aboriginal studies, or a Degree in Arts/Humanities, advantageous but not essential.
