AECOM Senior Mining and Geotechnical Engineering Manager in Markham, Ontario

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mining and Geotechnical Engineering Manager to be based out of any of our Canadian offices.
The successful candidate will have a key role in development and growth of our Mining and Water Dams business in Canada, and will include opportunities to work with our dams and mining teams internationally.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Plans, directs, and supervises all operations included in a large, complex project or several moderately sized projects with greater risk and complexity, and significant financial impact
Resolves complex issues
Provide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff in completing project tasks
Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and designs
Acts as primary point of contact with client and has full responsibility for project delivery
Competent to serve as Engineer-of-Record on design and design-build projects
May be responsible for Project teams that include 10 or more members often representing multiple business lines, working in remote locations and including a subcontractor(s)
Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the unique or controversial problems
Regularly develop and evaluate project plans
Provide advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations
Work with clients to provide long-term solutions
Project leadership in the areas of design, analysis, and construction on various Tailings Dams and Mining projects
Develop project proposals and work with business leader on overall strategy to grow Mining practice

Bachelor degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering with a Major in Geotechnical) + 8 years of relevant experience in leading tailings dam design and Engineer of Record responsibility
Professional Engineering License required or eligible
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from CEAB-accredited institution
15+ years of progressive experience within the field
Strong technical progression within geotechnical engineering
Experience in water dam design is preferable
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate proactive problem solving skills
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility
Appropriately experienced candidates will have acted as a technical leader within the area of geotechnical involvement for mining projects including full life cycle for tailings management and dam design
Experience with and ability to make informed decisions regarding drilling, field investigations, laboratory testing, advanced material characterization, seepage analysis, slope stability analysis, deformation analysis and site closure design and construction. Experience managing and working with a multi-discipline team.
