Job Summary

AECOM is seeking visionary and dynamic leadership for our Canada Region based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) offices, with the primary responsibility to lead and grow the Architecture, Engineering, Interiors, Planning (Design Planning & Economics) & Consulting(Strategy +) regional business, with a focus on positioning AECOM as a fully integrated multi-disciplinary market leader, and with the goal of driving innovation and excellence in Design & Thought Leadership, Project Management, and Technical and Delivery success for local, regional and global clients.

We are seeking an individual who is an industry-recognized leader in the Architectural/Engineering Design & Planning Community in each of the GTA and Western Canada offices, has strong client relationships, and an established client and industry network. The ideal candidate understands and has proven track record in driving business fundamentals that include client leadership, business development, financial oversight, design quality, project delivery, and has the ability to convey innovative design thinking and solutions.

Leadership Goals:

  • Responsible for developing and executing the strategic growth plan for their region, including developing and executing client outreach goals

  • Advocates design excellence and quality – leads the regional strategy in assuring that we are building client relationships, strategically pre-positioning winning and delivering the most important work in the region

  • Together with regional market sector leaders, builds high performance design teams – soliciting and managing client feedback to align operations and allocate resources according to strategic priorities, recognizes and unleashes the potential of others by providing the needed environment, resources, coaching, experiences and other support, champions an innovative and collaborative culture

  • Champions change – makes the AECOM vision understandable, creates buy-in to the vision by linking day-to-day work to the attainment of the vision, engages and mobilizes others to drive change, reduces organizational ambiguity

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture

  • 20+ years' experience

  • Registered Architect

  • Deep knowledge of the regional marketplace with national and global reach, key clients, and industry trends is paramount

  • Experience and skill in strategic business development, client relationships and driving sales and revenue

  • The ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, “scope of work” development, interviews, and on-going client maintenance interface

  • Acted as principal-in-charge of a large/multi-disciplined project /consultant team

  • Together with Market Sector leaders, Principal-In-Charge and Project Directors, established project scopes, work plans and work schedules

  • Successfully delivered projects within the clients’ budget / schedule requirements

  • Successfully delivered project scope and fee, delivering targeted profit to the firm interfaced with project managers on schedules, project review meetings, issues management and client expectations

  • An ability to travel and/or work remotely with teams

  • A strong desire to train, mentor and develop staff to grow their careers and the business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Business Degree

  • Ability to speak and write in more than one language (Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese)

  • 10+ years in the geographic marketplace

  • Other expertise may include concentrated experience is client markets such as; Commercial, Corporate Workplace, Justice, Healthcare, Mission Critical, Transportation, Higher Education, Federal; and Cities. Each considered an important market sector to the role
