Job Summary
Our Civil Infrastructure Roads team has a full time, Senior Engineer vacancy for people with experience of traffic and municipal engineering schemes in the UK, based at 1 New York Street, Manchester UK.
The team is highly successful and growing as workload is increasing and our clients are giving us significant opportunities to be involved in strategically important schemes across the UK and beyond. The Roads team provides network modelling, design and infrastructure delivery services on a wide range of projects for many local authority and contractor clients and also supports other AECOM sectors.

The Crescent Masterplan
Great Manchester Clean Air Zone
Stockport Bus Rapid Transit
Job Responsibilities:
Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all CDM responsibilities including safety in design.
Support preparation of detailed client briefs and fee proposals and contribute to major bids whilst developing client relationships.
Act as an AECOM accredited Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager (training provided) including monitoring financial performance.
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.
Take an active role in the preparation of designs and reports for highway and traffic engineering schemes, providing specialist technical contributions.
Keep up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation.
Support Senior Management and manage career progression of team members.
Minimum Requirements
A successful track record in the delivery of multiple, consecutive traffic engineering projects with excellent technical and communication skills.
Experience of team management including technical development and mentoring of staff in the performance of their duties.
Application and use of DMRB, Manual for Streets and the Traffic Signs Regulations and Traffic Signs Manuals,
Dealing directly with clients and contributing to bids and proposals.
Specific Skills Required:
- An ability to demonstrate experience and expertise in some or all of the following areas: Traffic engineering management and design, Cycling and walking, Traffic signals, Bus priority and BRT, Road safety audits/analysis/engineering, Traffic signing and wayfinding, Traffic Regulation Orders and parking, Traffic modelling software (e.g.VISSIM, TRANSYT, and LinSig etc).
Desirable skills:
- Detailed design and scheme delivery experience for urban streetscapes with excellent technical and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
A Chartered Engineer or actively working towards an appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.
