We’re looking for Principal and Associate EIA Consultants specialising in the energy sector to join our Environment & Sustainability business that has over 650 staff working across the UK. The location for this role is flexible, but ideally based in one of our main offices in London (Aldgate), Basingstoke, Bristol, Birmingham, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Plymouth or St Albans. However, do get in touch if this does not work for you because, for the right candidate, we’ll explore other options.
You will provide support and input to our portfolio of high-profile energy projects, including power generation with carbon capture, the emerging hydrogen sector, large scale solar, wind, power transmission (including international interconnectors), as well as nuclear new build and nuclear decontamination projects. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that are transforming our energy systems and helping the UK to deliver its net zero ambitions.
You’ll provide environmental inputs across all project lifecycles, from early strategy development, through feasibility, optioneering option selection, outline design, to detailed design, discharging of consents, construction and scheme operation/ maintenance.
To apply for this will role, you’ll need to be able to demonstrate experience in managing multidisciplinary environmental inputs across a range of energy projects. You’ll have worked closely with design engineers to intercept and mitigate potential environmental effects, engaging and consulting across a wide range of audiences, as well as effectively managing resources and budgets.
Your role will include:
Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs across a range of energy projects, with a focus on the management of EIAs in support of gaining development consent
Managing the preparation of EIA screening and scoping reports and Environmental Statements, including the technical review of specialist chapters
Liaising with clients and internal supply teams
Working collaboratively with design teams to ensure environmental considerations are appropriately taken into account, as well as developing sustainable initiatives
Working in partnership with other members of the wider business
Managing resources, delegating activities, monitoring and managing project budgets (with support as applicable)
Leading and supporting business opportunities and associated fee and technical proposal development
Promoting AECOM’s environmental services to both internal and external audiences.
Experience of providing consultancy services to the energy sector
An excellent understanding of the EIA processes (including screening and scoping), environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation
A detailed understanding of relevant consenting and licensing regimes
Confidence when engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups
The ability to work collaboratively as part of an established team, coordinating inputs from a specialist technical teams
Excellent verbal and report writing skills, including technical reviewing
Project management skills, including programming, staff resource management, and budget management
A degree in a relevant environmental discipline and an appropriate professional membership
Willingness to travel
