AECOM Highways Engineer in Manchester, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Our Manchester Highways team in the North is looking to enhance and enlarge our team with people who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to deliver. We are looking for an Engineer to join our team and assist with the delivery of highway schemes. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the delivery of a range of highways designs and studies, working closely with the Project Manager and other technical leads.

The team is part of our national highways sector supporting major clients including Highways England, the Welsh Government, Major Contractors and Local Authorities. Our diverse range of projects provides a varied workload at all stages from feasibility, design and construction of major infrastructure.

Our recent commission to provide Technical Assurance to Highways England in the North allied to our strong workload with the Welsh Government, Major Contractors and Local Authorities provides a diverse range of projects and varied workload at all stages from feasibility, design and construction of major infrastructure. We deliver services through our prominent place on regional frameworks including the AGMA Star Framework and the North Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency.

Our current portfolio of projects include:-

  • 2 major Smart Motorway Projects within the D&B environment, the M62 J10 -12 and the M6 J21a to 26.

  • M60 J18 Simister Island Technical Assurance

  • A64 Hopgrove

  • M60 J13 Improvement

  • Trafford Road Improvement Scheme

Our approach is to embrace the latest technologies in our delivery through our Digital Transformation initiative and encourage innovation in our work. Our legacy of using BIM and technologies is evidenced through our modeling expertise in design and asset management through our recent projects such as the Trafford Line Metrolink Extension and our Smart Motorway projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in the field of Highways and Drainage Design with demonstrable knowledge of UK standards including DMRB and MCHW.

  • Experience as a designer on highway projects.

  • Knowledge of H&S and the implementation of CDM on projects.

  • Experience of the implementation of QA processes.

  • Experience of current Software design packages.

Other preferable experience:

  • Collaborative behaviors

  • BIM

  • Experience of mentoring junior staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or similar field (BEng or MEng)

  • Candidates should be progressing their Professional Qualifications through a recognized Institution (ICE or CIHT).
