AECOM is seeking a Senior Marine Design Engineer to be based in Bahrain. We are looking for a design engineer who can design coastal marine structures such as quaywalls, rock revetments, breakwaters, beaches, sheetpiles, etc..
The Senior Marine Engineer will work under the guidance of the Lead/Principal Engineer/Project Manager and will be responsible for leading the work of a design squad on various types of structures on major ports, marine and coastal projects.
Assist the Lead/Principal Engineers and Project Managers in the timely delivery of marine and coastal structural designs.
Take a lead in developing innovative solutions to marine and coastal structural design problems, slope stability analysis, etc.
Independently carry out designs, including proof checking, in accordance with the relevant standards and guidelines.
Specific Skills Required:
Should be good in both written and spoken English Language including knowledge in formal report writing skills.
Should be able to carry out designs of the following structures with no or minimal supervision:
Gravity quay walls and armoured revetments
Rock groynes and beach retention structures
Steel sheet piles
Reinforced concrete structures in marine environment including port aprons, dolphins, mooring structure, piles, etc.
Maritime design and planning include good knowledge in maritime codes & standards such as BS codes, Euro Code, PIANC, Eurotop, CIRIA etc
- Should have the basic knowledge and be able to assist the principal engineers to design the following structures:
Coastal defence structures
Dredging and reclamation
Numerical hydraulic modelling (hydrodynamic, spectral wave, etc.)
- Should have excellent knowledge of the following software:
Geo5 or similar
- Should have basic knowledge of the following software:
MIKE Suite by DHI
ArcGIS or similar GIS software (Optional)

Bachelors in Civil/Structural Engineering or higher
Masters in Civil/Structural Engineering
