Currently GDS is actively seeking a creative and highly talented Senior Engineer for Linear Infrastructure Projects for immediate employment. As described below the role covers technical duties related to the Linear Infrastructure Practice Group as geometric design (road and rail alignment); pavement design; road equipment design, etc.; but also opportunities for design management for mid-large size Road and Rail Projects. This is a key role within the Europe GDC team in Madrid.

Job Duties

The key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;

  • Collaborates with GDS leadership on the Europe GDC stand up process.

  • Works with GDS leadership to prepare proposals and do assessment of packages of work susceptible of being off-shored to GDS group.

  • Categorizes packages of work offshored to the GDS group, elaborates project execution plans for small to large size packages of work and in combination with Home Office defines the delivery strategy, including composition of design teams.

  • Conducting peer review and making technical presentations.

  • Driving quality control of the work performed (reports, calculations, drawings, etc.) assuming its responsibility.

  • Performing different analysis and design of linear infrastructures Projects covering at least one of the following fields: geometric design (roads and rail alignment); pavement design; road equipment design (barriers, road signs, line marking, etc.); traffic staging; drainage and storm water design; etc.

  • Conducting value engineering evaluations, determining alternative designs, materials, building techniques.

  • Coordinating the design with other technical disciplines and stakeholders.

  • Could have some technical discussions with internal clients.

  • Making decisions independently on engineering problems related to Linear Infrastructures practice group.

  • Thinking and working independently.

  • Delegating work to, mentors, trains, and supervising less experienced staff to complete assignments.

  • Comply with statutory, project and AECOM-specific health and safety requirements (or similar)

  • Responsible for leading small to large design teams working for internal clients, integrating resources from different GDS offices (Madrid, Poland, India, etc.)

  • Initiates and directs the planning, development, and continuous monitoring of the project scope, procedures, budget and schedule for the packages of work off-shored to the GDS group.

  • Reviews and validates all comments received from Project's representatives (owners, contractors, AECOM’s home offices, etc.) on a specific discipline and coordinates timely resolutions to maintain project schedule, budget, and quality requirements.

  • Provides updates of progress to plan through dashboards, slides and reports.

  • Recognizes and interpreting opportunities and risks on Project delivery, in collaboration with other GDC and home offices.

  • Training and evaluating less experienced staff.

Minimum Requirements

Specific Skills

  • Proven track record of working on Civil & Infrastructure Projects collaborating with international and multi-cultural teams.

  • Experience working with international regulations and standards.

  • Proficient in various software packages for geometric design of linear infrastructures such as: GEOPAK, INROADS, OPENROADS, CIVIL 3D, etc.

  • Working knowledge of BIM platforms for linear infrastructure projects will be considered favorably.

  • Diversified knowledge of technology, materials, equipment, design concepts, and construction techniques.

  • Proven commitment with Quality Control Policy and Quality Management System.
