AECOM Construction Manager (Architect/Engineer) in Madrid, Spain

Job Summary

Join our B+P team in Madrid as an Architect/Engineer Construction Manager (Director de Ejecución de Obra - Arquitecto Técnico/Ingeniero Técnico Industrial) for immediate employment in our Madrid office.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Lead the quantity, cost and quality control from preconstruction to commissioning and project closeout:

  • Technical leadership and coordination of the multidisciplinary AECOM site quality assurance and quality control team from preconstruction to commissioning and project closeout.

  • Establish quality assurance and quality control processes for all disciplines. Monitor the team’s work. Liaise with the contractors in case of deviation. Report to the client on quality, quantity and cost related issues.

  • Closely collaborate with the AECOM PM and Director of works. Report on any technical risk and deviations

  • Assist the PM and Director of Works in cost and compliance control in case of change orders

  • Control of construction schedules and milestones.

  • Extensive knowledge of construction systems, execution processes and related health and safety standards.

  • Carry out any further action necessary for legal compliance with the statutory role of Director of Execution of Works (Director de Ejecucón de Obra), including but not limited to reception of materials, reviewing specifications, material certificates and other compliance related documents.

Minimum Requirements

  • +15 years experience

  • 10 years in a site quantity and quality control

  • high level of english and spanish

  • Skills:

  • Proven track record in quantity and quality control of complex projects.

  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary site teams regarding quality and quantity control

  • Act solution oriented. Capability of prioritizing under stressful conditions.

  • Expertise in construction methods and related execution processes of industrial buildings regarding all disciplines.

  • Detailed knowledge of the Spanish construction market. International experience is welcome.

  • Full proficiency of RIB Presto and Autodesk AutoCAD. Knowledge of Autodesk Revit, RIB Cost-IT and MS Project are recommended. Knowledge of Oracle Primavera is welcome

  • Languages:

  • Excellent Spanish and English communication skills

  • Use of other languages is desirable

  • Others:

  • Based in Madrid, but potentially up to 80% of the time on site.

  • Willingness to travel.

  • Valuable to have own vehicle for site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Degree in Architecture /Engineering (Arquitecto Técnico/ Ingeniero Técnico Industrial)


  • Chartered architect /engineer (Arquitecto Técnico /Ingeniero Técnico Industrial colegiado)

  • Training in Health and Safety procedures on construction site are welcome.
