Currently GDS is actively seeking a creative and highly talented
Associate Design / Project Manager for immediate employment. This is a key role within the Europe GDC team in Madrid.
The key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Collaborates with GDS leadership on the Europe GDC stand up process.
Develops related systems and tools for Project Controls, Project Management and Work Share procedures across GDS.
Works with GDS leadership to prepare proposals and do assessment of packages of work susceptible of being off-shored to GDS group.
Reviews contracts, scope documents, and available data for the project, and establishes schedules and budgets for compliance with project requirements and contract obligations.
Categorizes packages of work off-shored to the GDS group, elaborates project execution plans and in combination with Home Office defines the delivery strategy, including composition of design teams.
Partners with GDC offices to ensure delivery and execution challenges are understood.
Responsible for leading a design team working for internal clients, integrating resources from different GDS offices (Madrid, Poland, India, etc.)

Client liaison, predominantly internal client, and the production internal proposals, including quality documentation and costings.
Project Management including program and resource monitoring, quality control, technical management and delivery.
Takes leadership initiative in working with all team members, and all AECOM departments involved on a specific Project and achieve an integrated project team approach to the work.
Initiates and directs the planning, development, and continuous monitoring of the project scope, procedures, budget and schedule for the packages of work off-shored to the GDS group.
Reviews and validates all comments received from Project's representatives (owners, contractors, AECOM owning geo, etc.) on a specific discipline and coordinates timely resolutions to maintain project schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
Responsible to proactively monitor critical project milestone dependencies, and potential actions which may result in risks to critical project milestones, and effectively work to mitigate risks
Reviews project key performance indicators and forecasts any modifications to schedules, cost estimates, and financial reports, and effectively reconciles risks to commitments that may exceed assigned schedules and budgets.
Coordinates project communications, AECOM internal contacts and maintains working relationships at throughout the period of the project.
Resolves problems of coordination, schedule and prioritization among different GDC teams supporting a specific Project.
Establishes metrics and KPIs to measure GDC Project performance towards goals and objectives.
Provides updates of progress to plan through dashboards, slides and reports.
Recognizes and interpreting opportunities and risks on Project delivery, in collaboration with other GDC and Owning Geos.
As an individual consultant, formulating and guiding the attack on problems of exceptional difficulty and marked importance to the organization or industry
Training and evaluating less experienced staff.
Mentoring and managing staff on projects.
Comply with statutory, project and AECOM-specific health and safety requirements (or similar)
TRAINING AND EDUCATION:
Bachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University.
PMP Accreditation will be considered favorably
Primavera P6 or MS Project knowledge will be considered favorably
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Access foremost)
12+ years in civil and infrastructure projects; preferably transportation infrastructure projects (road and rail), and project / design management experience, which includes knowledge of all phases of design,
3+ years experience in large-scale, complex reporting and analysis utilizing various reporting tools that includes designing and executing performance metrics and KPI scorecard programs.
Experience implementing continuous improvement concepts to increase operational effectiveness.
Experience working in the North America region and Australia will be considered favorably
US Professional Engineer license will be considered favorably
Working knowledge and understanding of the external environment that influences success
Proven track record of working on Civil & Infrastructure Projects collaborating with international and multi-cultural teams.
Experience with international regulations and standards (AASTHO; Eurocodes; British Standards, etc.).
Proven commitment with Quality Control Policy and Quality Management System.
