About Construction Management - AECOM Tishman

Since 1898, AECOM Tishman has managed the construction of some of the world’s most iconic buildings. We employ a diversified preconstruction and construction management staff of structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers; architects; technology specialists; scheduling and cost control personnel; and construction estimators and accountants. We provide expert consultation and guidance in all phases of a building project, from master-planning, preconstruction options evaluation and decision-making, to design review, estimating, and scheduling, through procurement, construction and occupancy. AECOM Tishman’s staff manages all consultants and contractors on a project, representing client interests throughout the project cycle. In total, AECOM Tishman has built more than 900 million square feet – including the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, One World Trade Center in New York.

Job Description

  • Provides overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project specific objectives and policies.

  • Provides technical direction and guidance to subordinate managers, enforces company and project policies, maintains close client interface, and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.

  • Position has significant profit/loss responsibility for assigned construction project.

  • This position will also support the leadership team to ensure all contract requirements are met as well as interface with subcontractors and clients.

Additional duties:

  • Maintain up-to-date project progress information and cost of labor and material data for project control and analysis.

  • Create and update at least monthly the overall schedule.

  • Review schedules with the superintendent

  • Create 2- or 3-week look-ahead schedules as required.

  • Work as a team with assigned foreman and superintendent to build project in a controlled manner. Manage and coordinate with subcontractor.

  • Coordinate with purchasing the requisition of materials and furnish information for proper coding of invoices.

  • Provide modifications resulting in change orders.

  • Process Additional Work Authorizations (AWA’s) for change order submission.

  • Coordinate and process change orders or technical problems with client requirements, suppliers, superintendents, and subcontractors.

  • Review project cost reports each week.

  • Review all purchase orders, delivery tickets, subcontractor requisitions, and invoices to see that they are coded correctly for project costing.

  • Maintain all project files: submittals, shop drawings, maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, punch lists.

  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and job-related documents.

  • Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability.

  • Compile reports regarding financial, schedule and production reports for the Project Executive.

  • Prepare and coordinate payments from owner and ensure timely payments.

  • Develop and maintain the project schedule in sync with the project budget.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Civil Engineering/Construction Management, and 4 years of relevant civil construction experience or AA/AS and 6 years of relevant experience or HS/GED and 8 years of relevant experience.

Preferred requirements:

  • BS/BA in Civil Engineering or Construction Management strongly preferred.

  • Experience with various construction processes such as subcontractor management, scheduling, sequencing, submittals, and construction contract administration.

  • OSHA 10

  • Heavy civil construction experience strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and other construction related computer programs.

  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and job-related documents.

  • Experience in reading, analyzing and interpreting technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Experience in writing professional reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and general public.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability.

  • Valid Driver’s License to operate an AECOM provided motor vehicle on construction project site(s) to support project tasks assignments and scope of work. For positions with driving responsibilities, Motor Vehicle Records are reviewed as part of AECOM’s background check process to ensure compliance with the Company’s driving standards.
