AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Wind Technical Project Manager to join our growing Energy Team. This position is located in California.
The successful candidate is a dynamic, self-directed individual with an excellent understanding of managing and executing utility scale wind projects, designing wind projects, and maintaining client relationships. Attributes we are looking for include:
Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills
Proven ability to effectively communicate expectations and requirements with both clients and team members
A track record of leveraging relationships to expand work with existing clients, identify new clients and recruit and retain in-house staff
Typical work includes managing owner’s engineer tasks for utility scale wind energy projects, including oversee or manage wind system design and technical reviews.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for the overall management administration to projects and assists in establishing project-specific objectives and policies.
Implements company and project policies and is a primary liaison between AECOM and client interface.
Works with interdisciplinary technical leads in coordinated successful execution of projects
Reviews wind project deliverables against contracted scope of services
Writes technical reports to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders
Coordinates internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the execution of projects
Supports changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs to minimize risk
Reports and escalates to management as needed
Maintains project documentation control
Manages the development of cost estimates to determine return on investment
Leads and supports development of technical proposals.
Helps recruit and build a team of professionals to support the growth strategy
DCS—Energy
AECOM’s Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to energy engineering, energy procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or closely related field
6 years of experience including related consulting experience leading and managing technical teams and project management with experience in:
Project Management, including large, complex projects in multiple locations
Wind energy assessment, design, or development
Energy production modeling
Turbine layout and modeling
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in renewable energy or related discipline
PE license in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Current relevant contacts in the wind sector
Experience leading a diverse team of professionals including, but not limited to: project managers, construction managers, project controls professionals, estimating, public outreach, procurement professionals, environmental professionals, consultants, owners engineering, safety professionals, risk management etc.
Experience in utility scale, commercial and industrial scale renewables project design and construction
Experience with both Onshore Wind and Offshore Wind project development, permitting, design and construction
Experience in designing/selecting wind turbines and technical calculations.
Working knowledge of utility transmission and distribution system tariff structures
Skilled with wind modeling software, AutoCAD, GIS or other graphics software
