Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer – Technical Lead to be based in Los Angeles, California for the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project .

JOB SUMMARY:

While the position is primarily for the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project, AECOM has an impressive backlog of significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area and transit/rail projects across the West Region, and provides exceptional opportunity for professional growth. Projects may include the design of urban and rural roadways, interstate highways, interchanges, design-build and more. This position is for a hybrid working scenario allowing for in-office collaboration sessions as well as remote work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Co-Lead development of technical design plans, specifications and estimates with Roadway Design Manager on large scale projects and serves as a lead engineer on mid-large-size projects.

  • Lead geometric design of roadways creating horizontal and vertical alignments and models in accordance with City of Los Angeles Street Design Manual, Caltrans Standards, and other applicable Local standards.

  • Preparation of design reports including design study reports, and technical memorandums.

  • Coordination with project stakeholders including contractors, utility companies, and permitting agencies.

  • Serve as a Senior technical resource and technical advisor for team.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

  • Participates in Discipline Department efforts to grow technical expertise

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 12+ years of total experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.

  • 8+ years of previous design experience in preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) on roadways and streetscape design.

  • California PE License

  • Experience in designing highway/roadway systems.

  • Experience on multidisciplinary project with subconsultants.

  • Working proficiency with design software including Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley Open Roads

  • Familiarity with MS Office 2010 software (Excel, Word, Project) is required.

  • Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work as a team.

  • Ability to proactively communicate, mentor and lead department staff.

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $106,800.34 - $197,580.63.
