Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented and experienced Program Director to support the Program & Project Management Business line (PPM) in the West Region. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 12 (twelve) years of Healthcare experience including project and construction management of complex medium and large multi-site OSHPD healthcare facilities, as well as, a minimum of 4 years of leadership. The major responsibilities of this position involves working with public and private healthcare client(s) and leading the construction of healthcare facilities such as hospitals, medical office buildings, healthcare clinics, ambulatory facilities, parking structures and other support buildings. This position will be based Los Angeles, CA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides for overall performance management of a group of related projects, subprograms, and program activities managed in a coordinated way to obtain benefits not available from managing them individually.

  • Responsible for contract performance to include the safety and well-being of employees, financial management, project and quality management and generally represents the company with respect to the customer.

  • Works to ensure projects and sub-programs are organized and executed in a consistent manner and fulfill customer requirements.

  • Requires a broad view of program objectives and organizational processes and generally works within five performance domains: program strategy alignment, benefits management, stakeholder engagement, life cycle management, and program governance.

  • Responsible for leading and standing up a new Healthcare market program award.

  • Responsible for the overall management and administration for project(s) and establishing project specific objectives and policies.

  • Provides management and guidance to subordinate managers, enforces company and project policies, and a primary liaison between AECOM and client interface.

  • Oversees and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.

  • Responsible for administering the project from budgeting/schedule stage through procurement and contract closeout.

  • Oversees contractor meetings and coordinates with client coordinate with clients to provide guidance on project initiatives such as sustainability, constructability, commissioning, phasing and timing of project elements.

  • Acts as owner’s representative on behalf of the client throughout the entire lifecycle of the project.

  • Analyze and recommend alternative project delivery strategies for different components of the program that might offer cost, schedule, quality and coordination benefits.

  • Support in the coordination of procurement/delivery packages.

  • Manages construction schedule, capital construction budgets and oversee quality of execution.

  • Manages more complex projects that tend to be larger in scope and dollar, thereby increasing the potential for larger change orders and consequences of error.

  • May act independently as the IE representative with consulting firms and ensures that the final product reflects the original scope and budget requirements.

  • Increasing responsibility for leadership of direct reports.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus twelve (12) years of related experience, including four (4) years of leadership working on complex construction projects, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Experience as a director/project manager/construction manager representing owners of Health Facilities, Parking Garages, OSHPD facilities, and structural demolition.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. and/or M.S. degree(s) in architecture, engineering, or construction management.

  • Licensed professional in California, and/or Certified Construction Manager.

  • Minimum of Twenty (20) years of experience in the position working on complex construction projects under the jurisdiction of the County of Los Angeles and OSHPD in California.

  • Prior Design-Build projects experience in similar size and complexity as a director/project manager, $100 million - 1 billion+.

  • Environmental hazardous material abatement experience.

  • Management of building projects in similar size and complexity.

  • Evidence of satisfactory past performance, knowledge of codes, standards, and construction/engineering processes.

  • LEED AP Certification desirable.

  • Building Information Modeling, (BIM) experience desirable
