AECOM Manager, Mergers & Acquisitions in Los Angeles, California

Job Summary

The Corporate Development / Mergers & Acquisitions Manager position will be responsible for working with the team to identify, evaluate, and execute domestic and international acquisitions and divestitures for the Company. As a member of the Corporate M&A team, the M&A Manager will be working with operating businesses across the global organization and coordinating with multiple functional groups. This will be a position based from either our Dallas, TX or Los Angeles, CA offices.

AECOM has a significant acquisition and divestiture history, and a member of the M&A team should expect to gain significant buy-side and sell-side experience in domestic and international markets.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Strategic M&A Planning: Evaluate the competitive landscape and assist in development of M&A plan to advance the strategic initiatives of the Company. This will also include profiling and monitoring top targets.

  • Target Evaluation: Analyze operational and financial information of potential targets. Prepare multiple valuation analyses (comparables, DCF, IRR, merger, accretion/dilution, etc.) to support executive decision making.

  • Transaction Execution: Project management responsibilities to coordinate an entire transaction. This will include managing due diligence, internal functional team review (finance & accounting, HR, IT, legal, tax), and approval processes.

  • Presentation: Prepare investment thesis presentations summarizing conclusions and recommendations to present to executive management and the Board.

  • Responsibilities may also include a role in post merger integration.

  • Potentially perform a variety of other ad hoc projects for senior management.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS plus 8+ years of relevant mergers & acquisitions, investment banking (analyst program) and/or management consulting experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Some travel required.

  • Candidate must be highly analytical and have an in-depth knowledge of accounting, finance, and valuation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Financial modeling skills (including usage of CapIQ or Factset plug-ins) is a plus.

  • Exceptional Power Point and MS Excel skills

  • Self-motivated, possessing a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.

  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) in order to interact with internal and external parties.

  • Engineering background and/or engineering industry knowledge is a plus.

  • Buy-side acquisition experience is a plus.
